About the exam (2026 entry)

TMUA is the test of mathematics for university admission. It is designed to test your mathematical reasoning, and some top universities for STEM subjects require a certain grade in the exam in order for them to give you an offer to study at their institution.  You can find a full list of which universities and courses require this exam for 2026 entry here.

There is two different sittings for the TMUA:

This exam is a step up from A Level Maths and Further Maths, and so requires specific preparation. On this page you will find question walkthroughs, stepping you through different problem solving techniques that can be very useful when doing questions. You will then find past papers for the TMUA, giving you more preparation and practice before taking the exam.
