TMUA is the test of mathematics for university admission. It is designed to test your mathematical reasoning, and some top universities for STEM subjects require a certain grade in the exam in order for them to give you an offer to study at their institution. There is two different sittings for the TMUA:
October 2025 Sitting
All Cambridge applicants must sit this sitting.
Thursday 31st July 2025 (3pm BST) - test booking opens
Monday 29th September 2025 (6pm BST) - test booking deadline
Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September 2025 - TMUA exam sitting
Friday 14th November 2025 - results released
January 2026 Sitting
Cambridge students cannot sit this sitting.
Monday 27th October 2025 (3pm BST) - test booking opens
Friday 19th December 2025 (6pm BST) - test booking deadline
Thursday 8th and Friday 9th January 2026 - TMUA exam sitting

This exam is a step up from A Level Maths and Further Maths, and so requires specific preparation. On this page you will find question walkthroughs, stepping you through different problem solving techniques that can be very useful when doing questions. You will then find past papers for the TMUA, giving you more preparation and practice before taking the exam.
